I sometimes find myself gravitating towards painting landscapes, as the hue and the value of colors in the natural world and the random composition formed by clouds, sky, shrubs and atmosphere is an inspiration and a good point of departure for my work. I use photos of landscapes to inspire and jog my memory. When using watercolors to paint landscapes, the spontaneity needed to quickly apply the paint impacts the visual imagery. In my collage work, serendipity and the ability to shift torn paper create multiple possibilities to choose from. In my printmaking, using the same plate or screen for multiple prints offers a visual connection and provides an interesting tension between the unity of the plate and the variety of the prints, and offers a distinct compass for the visual imagery.
“Creating art is ingrained in my identity. Being an artist and being involved in a creative community is what gives me joy and inspires my daily actions.”
Every month, we feature new artists in our virtual Art Galleries! Here is a chance for you to connect with the community through your art. If you are interested in being featured as a Creative Alliance Project artist of the month, please fill out the submission form on “SUBMIT ART” . Because the mission of C.A.P. is to deepen connection through the arts, supporting creatives in all their endeavors, we provide direct links to the artists who wish to be contacted (and their galleries for those that are represented) as well as being archived for the community to enjoy at any time.
