I grew up thinking that art was for “those who could afford it” , not me. I rarely went to galleries or museums but when I did I stared at paintings forever. Occasionally I would make my own art for fun but in 2019 there was a shift and I threw myself into acrylic on canvas. I am deeply inspired by Basquiat and Pollock. My work is a combination of the freedom of paint on canvas that Pollock created and the raw imagery of Basquiat. My Process is simple, I turn on some loud music and let the paint flow. I start to see shapes in the free flowing lines and those become the characters you see in my work.
“I create art because I have to. When I close my eyes I see flashes of paintings and I need to get them out of my head. I love watching people stare and find joy in all of the layers and imagery.“
Every month, we feature new artists in our virtual Art Galleries! Here is a chance for you to connect with the community through your art. If you are interested in being featured as a Creative Alliance Project artist , please fill out the submission form on “SUBMIT ART” . Because the mission of C.A.P. is to deepen connection through the arts, supporting creatives in all their endeavors, we provide direct links to the artists who wish to be contacted (and their galleries for those that are represented) as well as being archived for the community to enjoy at any time.
