“From Wall Street to Broadway” Presenter: Bruce Sabath. A moderated Q&A interview about his unusual path from theatre kid to Wall Street exec to theatre “kid” again, transforming his lifelong passion into an acting career. He will share his story that led him to create “Searching for Tevye”, a one man autobiography show that covers his journey in story and song.

PERFORMANCE: Friday evening April 8, 7:00pm at Bedford Community House Theatre: “Searching for Tevye”, a one-man autobiographical live performance with 3 piece music ensemble that magically brings to life this extraordinary performers journey of choosing a life of creativity. Bruce is a New York based actor, working in theatre, film, TV and commercials. $25. Ticket proceeds will go toward keeping our programs and senior programs free to Bedford residents. Tickets available in March.

“Improv For All” Presenter: Sallie Sills.
“Many people love the idea of doing improv but haven’t had the confidence to try it. In this workshop, Sallie will create a safe and playful space for participants to both learn the tools an improv actor has and to use these tools in a number of engaging and challenging improv games. Sallie has performed in New York, Michigan, and Scotland and for years was a member of a comedy troupe in Bozeman, Montana. She currently uses improv in her daily life as an educator and summer camp director.

“Everyone Can Write” Presenter: Patti Ivry Come try your hand (literally) at putting words on paper (or screen) to tell a story, describe a moment, express a viewpoint, or send some love.  This interactive workshop will begin with learning about writing in a fun and dynamic way, followed by opportunities to write together. No previous experience is needed – just a desire to have fun with pen and ink.  Patti Ivry facilitates a weekly zoom writing group, helping people discover their inner writer. With a rich background in teaching writing, she has helped people learn to express themselves in a variety of ways.  She has the magic trick to make writing fun!

 “Acting Like Actors With Pros from Broadway and TV” Presenters : John Bedford Lloyd and Anne Twomey Lloyd “We’ll start with talking about our work in theater, television and film.  Questions welcome! Then we’ll get the group moving with some simple theatre warmups for those who wish to participate using body and voice.  We’ll distribute short, simple scenes from American theatre and learn about breaking scenes down, and move on to some participant read throughs.  Then we’ll reflect on our work. The second Saturday, we’ll continue exercises and introductory work of this kind.  We’ll experience together, however briefly, the way actors do what they do. Anne Twomey worked as an actor in New York, London, LA and more in theatre and television.  Nominated for a Tony Award for Best Actress she enjoyed a long career on Broadway and Off Broadway where she met her husband, actor John Bedford Lloyd who is one of television’s most recognized actors. 

“Have Fun Making Jazz with Pros From NYC”  Presenters: Miles Gilbert -(bass) and  Hiroshi Yamazaki -(piano) A live participatory performance that highlights the many different ways that musicians rely on their audiences.  Each piece of music will provide a different way for the participants to play. You will be inspired to join in and feel the power of jazz by picking up percussion instruments which will be provided.  Miles Gilbert is a native New Yorker, who studied Jazz Performance at Oberlin Conservatory, where he was mentored by the legendary Saxophonist Gary Bartz. Miles is the bassist in the Griffin Woodard Quartet and has been a staple on the NY jazz scene. He and the great pianist, Hiroshi Yamazaki will also play from the new album they are releasing called “New Encounters”.

“Inspired Photos With Any Camera” Presenters: Amy Drucker and Jennifer Mullowney. Are we born to create? Yes!  Reawaken to the joy in being present with all that surrounds you and capture that beauty with any camera.  Hear the stories of discovering the truth of creativity that resides in all of us.  An inspiring and uplifting two part interactive  presentation with an accomplished photographer who can show anyone how to find and capture the beauty in anything. Amy Drucker is a professional photographer and published author who is inspired by what brings people together. Her award winning photography strives to document and tell stories of connection. Jennifer Mullowney is a professional studio photographer, and a street photographer with a passion for helping others see the beauty in a changed world with new eyes.

“Discover Your Inner Songwriter With a Master Composer” Presenters: Michael Minard and Phyllis Ross Making music isn’t hard when you have an open heart and the guidance of these inspired artists.  Join an award winning composer on a deeply enriching community journey of creating music together.  No musical experience necessary. Each participant will discover their inner spark to create and collaborate with the end result; a joyful, fully formed song. Michael Minard, a master teacher, is known for his extensive film and television work as well as being a magical songwriter for the Children’s Television Workshop’s Sesame Street.
